Jon Heyman of SI.com is reporting that A.J. Burnett and agent Darek Braunecker (pictured) have delayed the decision to opt out of the pitcher's existing contract by a few days. The player wants to give his current club a "fair and full chance" to make a competitive offer.
Jays GM J.P. Riccardi didn't comment on the extended window for negotiation, only reiterating his belief that the club would be in the mix for Burnett's services.
