The team went 13-16, Delgado batted .245/.410/.394 2 HR 13 RBI.

September 1, A's 69-64 ... 2.0 games out in West. The team went 22-7, Juicin' Giambi batted .396/.536/.844 13 HR 32 RBI.

Giambi's SLG was higher than Delgado's OPS over that stretch.

Both were in a playoff race (more or less--the Jays were a longshot but far from toast) and it was perceived that Giambi carried the A's to the post season.

As respects the 1987 MVP ... I would pick Alan Trammell over Boggs; .343/.402/.551 155 OPS+ from a slick-fielding shortstop that went 21 for 23 stealing bases and batted .417/.490/.677 (6 for 6 stealing bases) from September 1-end of season--the Tigers went 21-12 (.656) in the Worst. Month. Ever.

However, honest folks can disagree.

Best Regards

JohnJohn Brattainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12556478291131951192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-747236263452087289.post-10630149273448224732008-07-17T15:06:00.000-04:002008-07-17T15:06:00.000-04:00Lloyd, sweeting, Sportsnet calls him that. And you're right, his number should def. be retired.

As for Saukrates, he's hype. Check out "Play This" with Sauks and Common. It reminded me of the great opening series against the Red Sox and how depressing the rest of it is.

I kind of like Saukrates' narration. It's smooth.
