I'm pretty quick to dismiss his late season power surge. He struggled all year, only showing a decent bat when the rosters expanded.Drewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07271534213351978408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-747236263452087289.post-38462400373674389072009-10-27T16:58:30.413-04:002009-10-27T16:58:30.413-04:00Tenants/Tenets. In theory I don't have a problem with flexibility, but specialization would be nice (in my sim league I build my bench based on one power guy, one contact guy, one speed/defense guy, one OBP guy, etc). Bautista is useful power bat, and I don't count his flexibility against him (when you think about it, he's pretty much a RH Hinske except that he actually possesses an arm in RF), perhaps overpaid, perhaps not, McDonald is a useful glove, but definitely overpaid considering the abundance of good glove-no-hit infielders. The key is finding complementary pieces to those guys with different skill sets, and knowing when to move on when one or the other becomes too expensive for the skill set he brings to the table.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-747236263452087289.post-42425170070525198802009-10-27T16:43:06.131-04:002009-10-27T16:43:06.131-04:00Funnest / most unfortunate part: Hinske wasn't...Funnest / most unfortunate part: Hinske wasn't even on the roster for the ALDS and ALCS. Girardi prefers a third catcher and Freddy Fuckin' Guzman instead. This enraged me to no end. The guy is a valuable bench player!Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17881544159774670591noreply@blogger.com
