I doubt the decision much to do with selling tickets, and it obviously wasn&amp;#39;t a strategic move, so that&amp;#39;s all I can really think of. Which is unfortunate, because if that&amp;#39;s the case, what an awful basis for making that kind of decision. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I just can&amp;#39;t believe they plan on rebuilding (or retooling, or whatever) this year with a manager who they already know for certain won&amp;#39;t be here next year. Is there a severe shortage of managers for hire? Even a guy who overestimates the strength of nostalgia in Toronto must be aware that a winning team - or at the very least, one that is exciting to watch - would sell more tickets than that nostalgia ever would, even if it did still exist. They sure as shit don&amp;#39;t care who Cito Gaston is. They, like everyone else, want to cheer and celebrate and party on Yonge Street celebrating something new and real, not old and repackaged.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yes. Beeston overestimates the nostalgia in this town. It&amp;#39;s really just frustration with watching a loser. Most of the fan base doesn&amp;#39;t remember the 93 team and/or they&amp;#39;re smart enough to know we can&amp;#39;t do it again. Those Jays had the best scouting and highest payrolls in baseball. Not possible anymore since they go hand in hand these days.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Does anyone remember a time in the history of anything where trying to recreate the good old days ever succeeded? The Seinfeld reunion on Curb sucked.
