Crestfallen

Fuck this. No seriously, fuck this.

Masochistic Update: This season Edwin Encarnacion has 5 home runs and a .318 wOBA. His UZR/150 at third base is a stunning -23.1. Those are both significantly below his career averages of .350 and -12.2. Congratulations Rogers, I may not pay my bill again this decade. Fuck.

  1. My condolences, Drew. Seriously.

  2. I second the "fuck this" motion.

  3. Poor Drew. I guess the salary coming off the books won't help.

    P.S. this is the expos.

  4. This is not good. Wonder what the "personal reasons" were...

  5. I would say that retaliating by not paying your Cable bill is a fair reaction. I feel bad because I didn't truly start to appreciate Rolen until this year. But Drew, you were there supporting him the whole time ... I'm sorry for your loss.

We'll all get through this together.

  6. There's a serious SSS alert on those fielding stats.

  7. They're buying low on Encarnacion, and selling high on Rolen. This isn't a terrible deal.

Encarnacion's 5 home runs are in 139 ABs, which is only 3 less home runs than Rolen, who's had nearly 200 more at bats. Way to cherry pick your stats.

  8. Dave, EE also is no where near the defensive gem Rolen is. The Jays young arms rely on our strong defensive play, and now we lost one of the best hot corner defenders for someone who is a career .938 fielding %. Compare that to Rolen's .967. EE made 23 errors last season...it takes Rolen 2-2.5 seasons to reach that. Not to mention Rolen's career batting avg is slightly lower than EE's career best. EE is currently hitting slightly above the Mendoza line. So way to cherry pick your stats you tard.

Drew, where are you drinking? Can I join in?

  9. Well, no one's near the glove that Rolen is.

Just looking for the bright side. Encarnacion's a former prospect, he might turn out! Optimism!

  10. Fuck Encarnacion. I'm not looking forward to "that" at the hot corner. It's the relievers, a couple of hard throwers, that might have us smiling a few years down the road.

    We'll always have the memories.

And the personal reasons were family reasons.

    From the T.O. Star:

"[Rolen] mentioned he's got some personal things he's dealing with and if we could move him to a spot closer to his home, if we would take that into consideration, and we did," said Ricciardi. "It ended up working out really well for us."

  11. I don't like Ricciardi mentioning things like that. Just say you liked the deal and move on.

I'll miss him a ton. Like actually. How the fuck am I suppose to watch him in Cincy?

    Suuuuuuuuuucks.

  12. I agree Dave, just do your job JP. IF you don't want to say "salary dump to resign Halladay" on TV then don't.

  13. I disagree; if Rolen asked for a trade, I want to know about it. I want to know that that's one of the reasons this deal was made.

  14. Maybe Rolen took a page outta Burkey's book: "personal/family reasons to move closer to home."
